After weeks of being in limbo, Bob Weisenmiller not only was reappointed to the California Energy Commission but named its new chair. In addition to Weisenmiller, Governor Jerry Brown Jan. 25 selected Carla Peterman for a seat on the Energy Commission. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger named Weisenmiller to a commission post last year at this time, but lawmakers did not confirm him before the end of the requisite 12-month confirmation period. Brown stopped the clock from expiring on Weisenmiller’s post by withdrawing his nomination and then appointing him anew. Peterman, a University of California Berkeley doctoral candidate, focuses on renewable energy, technology innovation, and climate change mitigation policy. She sits on The Utility Reform Network board. Earlier, she worked as an investment banker for the power group at Lehman Brothers.
