The Natural Resources Climate Adaptation Act was introduced October 27. The bill is a vehicle to fund projects needed to adapt to environmental changes caused by climate change. The legislation expects the federal government to appropriate money for response to “ocean acidification, drought, invasive species, flooding, and wildfire” brought about by global warming. “The economic well being of communities throughout our nation depends on healthy natural resources, and we’ve got to work to prevent negative impacts while we try to lower greenhouse gas emissions,” stated Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), one of the authors. The other authors are Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Max Baucus (D-MT).
