The California Public Utilities Commission is investigating “prolonged power outages” in Edison territory following last week’s windstorm. “Our enforcement staff is looking into why the outages occurred and why it is taking so long for power to be restored,” Paul Clanon, CPUC executive director, stated Dec. 7. The commission is planning to assess pole failures and other possible contributory factors, including staffing levels. Edison, in a mid-week letter to the CPUC, said it fell short of its service restoration and customer information goals.
