Lynch Won?t Go Gently into that Good Night

By Published On: November 30, 2004

With her term set to wrap up, California Public Utilities Commission member Loretta Lynch accused the energy companies of conducting lobbying activities ?24/7? in a November 15 interview with television station KCBS. Among other things, Lynch asserted that Assemblymember Carol Liu, wife of CPUC president Mike Peevey, has pocketed hefty donations from utility executives. A look at contribution records shows that Sempra and affiliate Southern California Gas contributed a total of $3,475 to Liu?s coffers this year, while Southern California Edison donated $3,300. The Climate Registry is one of many nonutility donors, providing $500 to Liu. Numbers reflect contributions made through October 17.
