A major gas transmission line in San Carlos was put back into service at 125 pounds/square inch pressure Dec. 2. The utility announced the action earlier, but executed it Monday, according to PG&E spokesperson Brittany Chord. San Carlos filed a lawsuit Oct. 4 for a temporary injunction to close down a 3.8-mile portion of the gas pipeline due to safety concerns. Those concerns stem from a Sept. 9, 2010 gas explosion in neighboring San Bruno that killed eight. This week’s restart is about one-third the line’s former capacity at 365 pounds/square inch.
