The Sacramento Municipal Utility District Board of Directors January 24 unanimously voted to adjust its policies regarding settlement of claims and litigation, board committee principles, and credit market access. The board specifically agreed to make more concise its policy on delegation to the general manager with respect to the settlement of claims and litigation. It did not express a desire to change the delegation levels. Also, small technical changes were made to the board’s standing committee governance process and the strategic direction policy for compliance with bond indenture compliance and budget development. During this week’s meeting, General Manager Jan Schori commented on the death of former SMUD General Manager John Mattimoe. He died January 13 at the age of 86. “He played a major role in the growth of SMUD during his almost 30 years of service to the district,” Schori said. “He was very focused on ensuring the power supply for our customers was very reliable,” he added. “He also was very interested in always looking out for new forms of diverse energy.” Mattimoe was the district’s general manager from 1982 to 1985.
