Two weeks after the release of the dire International Panel on Climate Change report, the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously for the city to be 100% renewably-powered by 2035.
“A livable city and planet makes everything we do possible,” Council Member Mitch O’Farrell said. He told the council Sept. 1 that the city’s Energy, Environmental Justice and Climate Commission recently concluded that a conversion to “a carbon neutral LA by 2035 with minimal impacts on ratepayers” was achievable.
