Southern California Gas Co. faces a possible $150,000 penalty for using ratepayer money to undermine state, federal and local energy efficiency standards between 2014-17 intended to address climate change. The codes at issue aim to reduce the amount of gas many appliances burn, including home water heaters, furnaces, and stoves, as well as commercial boilers.
