The appointments of state resources secretary Mike Chrisman and CalEPA secretary Terry Tamminen were approved on 3-0 votes during their confirmation hearings in the Senate Rules Committee April 28. Both agency heads voiced their support for renewables and less polluting energy. The state?s energy system needs to be ?clean, reliable, and affordable,? Chrisman said. He endorsed the governor?s energy policy released earlier in the day, pushing for implementation of procurement law passed two years ago and advancement of reserve levels to ensure resource adequacy. Chrisman added that his agency is working with CalEPA and the Schwarzenegger administration on setting specific targets for renewables, efficiency, and conservation. The state?s goals will likely be released in about six weeks, he said.
